Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary

There is a bird sanctuary in Goa, India called Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and it's free to visit!  This place was named after the Indian ornithologist, naturalist and conservationist, Dr. Salim Ali who had helped conserve many of these birds back when he was alive.  There are over 350 species of birds that can be found here along with 20 different types of reptiles so you'll get to see an abundance of wildlife while visiting this sanctuary.  If you do decide to go there I suggest bringing some binoculars because they're helpful for spotting the smaller ones! The Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is located in the Mandovi River Delta on the west coast of India, about 8 kilometers north of Panjim, Goa. It is India's first bird sanctuary and has been declared as one of the Important Bird Areas (IBA) under different global conventions like IUCN Red List. The Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary was created to protect migratory birds that visit this area during their annual migration from Europe and Africa to Australia or New Zealand for breeding purposes between November and April every year.

Chapora Fort

Chapora fort is a 17th-century Portuguese military fort in the town of Chapora in Goa, India. It was built on the mouth of Chapora river which flows into the sea near Verem (also known as Verim). This fort was initially in Portuguese hands, but was later conquered by the Marathas without much struggle. The chapora fort is located on the mouth of river Chapora which is a small river that flows between Vasai and Verem villages. The nearest town to this place is Mapusa (approx 7km).This part is considered to be the most popular and crowded beach in North Goa. The fort can be reached by road or one has to take a ferry from the river side of the village (currently managed by govt authorities). There is no motorized transport allowed inside the fort area, only horse driven carts are permitted. The nearest railway station is Thivim which is just 10km away from the fort. There are hotels available near Chapora beach. The fort has three main entrance gateways, one facing north towards Pernem, second at north-east leading to Sattari and third at south itself connecting the Fort with Mapusa road.

Se Cathedral

The Se Cathedral is a catholic church in Panjim, Goa. It was built in the 17th century and has been around for over 350 years. The cathedral is dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria, who is often called Saint Katherine of India because she had strong ties with the country. The Church has stunning architecture that stands out among the other buildings in the city. A major renovation took place between 1887 and 1888 which led to an increase in its size by 20% with many new features like stained glass windows, stone carvings, marble floors etcetera. Today, it still remains one of Goa's most important tourist attractions! Goa is a beautiful beach destination in India. It has many tourist attractions, which include the Se Cathedral, Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Goa State Museum. The cathedral was built by the Jesuits during Portuguese rule to serve as an ornate church for Christians residing in the city.

The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a must-visit for any tourist or traveler visiting Goa. The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary at Old Goa has been standing since 1557 and it is one of the oldest churches in India.
